“Don’t ask what the world needs.
Ask what makes you come alive and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
— Howard Thurman
Come Alive Clinical Supervision is a single provider practice that delivers supervision services to individuals seeking full licensure for mental health therapy in Washington.
As Thurman says, “…what the world needs is people who have come alive.” It is my mission to help future counselors come alive through ongoing passion for their work as helping professionals, to become the best counselors they can be through tapping into their educational knowledge, researching what they don’t yet know, learning from their clients what works best for them, and benefitting from the shared experiences of colleagues with the common goal of licensure.
About Me
I attended Capella University and graduated March 31, 2015 with a 4.0 GPA and my MS in Mental Health Counseling. I am a Nationally Board Certified Clinical Supervisor. Counting my own internship and volunteer hours, I have worked as a counselor for 11 years. I am trained in EMDR, EFT (tapping) and as a certified trauma specialist. I see clients ages 18 and over. During the pandemic I switched to online-only counseling and have never looked back. My supervision services will be offered only online.
I took an approved Washington state training and began my journey as a Supervisor in November 2021. Since then I’ve supervised two supervisees, interns and associates, weekly at the private practice where I am employed. I recently decided to reduce my therapy practice to three days a week to concentrate more on supervision within my employment, and to also start a private supervision practice exclusively with associates working toward full licensure in Washington. Given the right set of circumstances, I will also work with Masters-level interns.
Personal:
I grew up in the Midwest, and do not miss the summer humidity and winters shoveling snow. I moved to the Northwest in 1983, where the humidity is usually much lower and snowfall often melts within a day. I live in Castle Rock, Washington with a roommate and a pit bull/husky mix. I have two grown children, a son 36 and a daughter 34. In November 2021 my daughter and her husband welcomed my very first grandchild, a boy.
In my spare time I play Spider Solitaire and word search games online, binge-watch cancelled tv shows, and enjoy time with good friends and family on our deck when the weather allows.
My Services
I am an ACES Nationally Certified Clinical Supervisor. I recently launched Come Alive Clinical Supervision, PLLC, my statewide clinical supervision practice in Washington.
I am a generalist and person-centered in counseling, and my supervision model is also person-centered. I choose this practice model to encourage supervisees to actively participate in the process, make suggestions and observations about their own and others’ cases, and to “think outside the box” within ethical guidelines to provide the best possible counseling experience for their clients. I believe humor and a positive outlook are helpful in counseling and strongly encourage Associates seeking full licensure to employ a similar mindset. I have loved being a therapist and supervisor; transitioning my practice to full-time supervision, I will continue the positive outlook I've maintained throughout the past 10 years.
While I think of myself as a generalist, a large percentage of my clients fall into three practice areas: trauma, LGBTQ+, and neurodivergent. I have seen numerous combat veterans, victims of domestic violence, and adults processing childhood sexual and emotional abuse. I often receive referrals for EMDR, tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique), and guided meditation (Image Transformation Therapy). I am considered a go-to therapist for those transitioning, and I counsel many non-binary individuals. I do ADHD testing and see autism spectrum clients who function with few needed accommodations in the neurotypical world. While I have gravitated to these groups as a counselor, Associates intending to counsel members of these groups will benefit from my experience with them.

She is person centered and encourages her supervisees to be their authentic self. She is encouraging and supportive in learning new techniques and skills. Pat is fiercely protective of her supervisee’s and will always have your back. She gives the autonomy for her supervisees to make their own decisions with their clients, but is always there to assist if you need guidance.
